Sometimes creative ideas and inspiration seem to flow through you effortlessly, taking form in writing, art, music or dance. Sometimes … well … things… just … get … stuck. Where creativity once felt natural and exciting, it now feels like the well has run dry. At these moments, it may feel like no amount of effort can “prime the pump.”
Creative blocks can be manifestations of feelings inside that you may have ignored, pusheddown or hidden from yourself, and which are now crying out for attention. Anxieties about not being good enough, talented enough or worthy enough can stop you in your tracks. Perfectionism, fear of criticism, or a harsh inner censor, can cause you to stop working before a new creation has a chance to come to fruition.
